FAIRVIEW PARK Touch-a-Truck The Fairview Park Recreation Department will host its eighth annual “Touch-a-Truck” event from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. July 14, rain or shine, in the Fairview High School parking lot, 4507 W. 213th St. Come and climb on and explore nearly 30 of your favorite vehicles, including big rigs, fire engines, police cars and construction trucks. Admission is free. Fairview Park Museum, Archives The Fairview Park Museum and Archives are housed inside Bain Park Cabin, a historic building at 21077 North Park Drive. Enjoy the collections from “back in the day.” The museum is open to the public 2-4 p.m. the first Sunday of the month from May through November. LAKEWOOD Volunteers needed to serve meals St. Edward High School is seeking students, parents, alumni and friends to help with its community meal program, which will be held today, July 25 and Aug. 22. Friday Night Flicks The city continues its popular Friday Night Flicks series this summer, with a diverse lineup of family movies. In the event of rain, the movie may be canceled. Lakewood Summer Meltdown The ninth annual Lakewood Summer Meltdown, sponsored by Melt Bar and Grilled, will be held from 4-10 p.m. July 14. The event takes place on Detroit Avenue in downtown Lakewood between Marlowe and Mars avenues. The festival includes the Meltdown 5K race, 1-mile Kids Fun Run, street festival, outdoor activities, games, food vendors, beer garden, live music and more. Cruisin’ River 2018 Rocky River United Methodist Church will host six classic car cruises the second and fourth Wednesday in July and August. The next events are from 5:30-8 p.m. July 11 and 25. Assist the First Responders “How Can You Assist Our First Responders?” will be presented at 7 p.m. July 11 at the Rocky River Citizen Police Academy Alumni meeting at Rocky River Public Library, 1600 Hampton Road. The speaker will be Dennis Kucler, member of West Shore Community Emergency Response Team. He will talk about how this organization supports its cities’ safety forces and first responders to help prevent, prepare for, mitigate and respond to emergencies and disasters. Lolly the Trolley tours The Rocky River Historical Society will host narrated Lolly the Trolley tours of Rocky River during River Days in July. On July 14, pick up the trolley at the gazebo behind the Rocky River police station at the northwest corner of Hilliard Boulevard and Wagar Road, and on July 15 at the Don Umerley Civic Center, also behind the police station. WESTLAKE Trash delay Due to the observance of Independence Day, city offices and Rumpke Waste Management will be closed today. Recycling and rubbish collections will be delayed one day for collections occurring on or after today. Westlake Summer Concert Series The city of Westlake Summer Concert Series continues from 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday at the Westlake Recreation Center pavilion, featuring Swamps of Jersey, a Bruce Springsteen tribute band. The free concerts have a variety of performers appropriate for all ages. All are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy.
